Physician Profile

INTERNET.HEADSHOT.FINALxDr. Ziran was trained by Dr. Matta, the innovator of anterior approach total hip replacement, and is a board-certified orthopaedic surgeon.  He specializes in fracture surgery of the arms/legs/pelvis/acetabulum and anterior approach total hip replacement.

He did two fellowships in:

1)  Orthopaedic traumatology – this specialty involves fixing the critically-injured patient (i.e. high-speed car accidents, etc.) with multiple injuries and/or complex fractures of the arm, legs, pelvic bone, and hip joint (acetabulum)

2) Pelvic/acetabular reconstruction (fixing complex fractures of the pelvic bone and/or hip joint), anterior approach total hip arthroplasty (replacing hip joints via the anterior approach), and periacetabular osteotomy (re-orienting the acetabulum in patients with dysplasia).

He has written several book chapters with Dr. Matta on anterior approach total hip replacement.  He is currently doing clinical research with Dr. Matta on survivorship of  the native hip after the periacetabular osteotomy procedure.

If you would like to make an appointment with Dr. Ziran, you can see him at MARINA DEL REY HOSPITAL-CEDAR’S SINAI AFFILIATE (310.448.7890) or SAINT JOHN’S HEALTH CENTER (310.582.7475).  He sees patients on Thursdays, and occasionally Monday afternoons.
